“A wise man will hear and increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel.” — Proverbs 1:5 NKJV
This is Kevin William Rascoe, and welcome to my weekly devotional/blog.
Today’s scripture: “The lessons here given are plain, and likely to benefit those who feel their own ignorance and their need to be taught. If young people take heed to their ways, according to Solomon’s Proverbs, they will gain knowledge and discretion.” — Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary
People love to hear themselves talk while others listen; then they depart and say, “That was a great conversation.”
However, when people listen, they mostly listen to influencers and somewhat ignore and mute the oldest and wisest.
But the disciples recognized Jesus as a wise man, so they listened to Him and followed Him.
Imagine if the youth opened their ears to the knowledgeable followers of Jesus Christ. Love would replace lust, marriage would come before sexual relations, and two announcing, “We’re expecting,” would say, “I do,” before the conception of a child.
THE MESSAGE: Listeners increase their knowledge.
So, use what God has given you more of. And to my knowledge, two ears outnumber the mouth of one.
With that, what are you: a talker or a listener?
Until next time, God bless!
“A wise man will hear and increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel.” — Proverbs 1:5 NKJV
If you haven’t accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior and repented of your sins, then do so now because there is no guarantee you’ll have another opportunity tomorrow (Romans 10:9-10).
