In Jesus’ Name

Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name. — Philippians 2:9, ESV.

This is Kevin William Rascoe, and welcome to my weekly devotional/blog.

Names are very important. I’ve lived long enough to know it. People routinely butcher my last name: Rascoe—somehow, they pronounce it Roscoe; it’s like they’re calling on or speaking to someone else.

But the late Dale Carnegie, who wrote the popular book How to Win Friends and Influence People, said, “Remember that a person’s name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language.”

However, Jesus’ name is the sweetest sound on earth.

“Christ is King of Kings and will be judge of all people, and all people will bow and confess Him either in this life or in the life to come.” — The Perry Stone Study Bible.

Even though some want to call their “god” Allah (Islam) or Shiva (Hinduism), Jesus is Lord our God—if you’ve seen me, you’ve seen the Father (Jn 14:9), and those other names do not sound like His.

And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. — Acts 4:12, ESV.

Reflect on how powerful Jesus’ name is: it heals (Acts 3:6), demons flee (Acts 16:18), and it saves souls.

Prayer: Father, we come to You today excited that someone introduced us to Your darling Son, Jesus Christ. However, some do not know what they’re doing: they habitually use Jesus Christ’s name in vain; they do not know or believe that salvation is only in His name. Therefore, we will play our role and refuse to remain silent, so we can help save souls; in that precious name, Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

Until next time, God bless!

If you haven’t accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior and repented of your sins, then do so now because there is no guarantee you’ll have another opportunity tomorrow (Rom. 10:9-10).

The youth need to read children’s books. So, why not give them a children’s Christian book that’s written for a child but contains a lesson for all? ORDER TODAY: Episode 3.
