Angels Obey God’s Word

Bless the Lord, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, obeying the voice of his word! — Psalm 103:20, ESV.

This is Kevin William Rascoe, and welcome to my weekly devotional/blog.

When I wake up, my goal is to recite God’s Word throughout the day, but sometimes I unintentionally let words like never, won’t, can’t, and “I doubt if that happens” slip out. So, my mouth has caused me more problems than I can ever imagine.

Today’s Scripture: “Angels are assigned to perform the word or instructions God gives them. They are also interested in hearing the Word of God preached by people on earth.” — The Perry Stone Study Bible.

Illustration: Imagine saying to someone who lives with you, “Hey, I need some flour; go to the store for me?” A few minutes later, you say, “I changed my mind.” Then, before they sit down, you say, “Uh, can you go to the store for me?”

You would think that person was mentally collapsing.

Well, a guardian angel obeys God’s Word, so if we’re saying, “My God delights in my prosperity; He gives me power to get wealth (Deut. 8:18), but later saying, “I don’t know how I’m going to make it,” we’re hindering our guardian angel from helping and guiding us to our godly destination.

Suggestion: At the end of each day, reflect on what you said throughout the day: Did your statements align with God’s Word? Or did your angel hear nothing that commanded him to assist you with your goals and your earthly assignments?

Prayer: If we didn’t know, now we know, Heavenly Father, that Your angels obey Your commands. They are ministering spirits sent to serve (Heb. 1:14), who watch over us (Ps. 91:11-12), guide us, and sometimes we even entertain them without realizing it (Heb. 13:2). So, we will watch what we say, and when we speak, it will be words from Your Word. In Jesus Christ’s name, we pray. Amen.

Until next time, God bless!

If you haven’t accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior and repented of your sins, then do so now because there is no guarantee you’ll have another opportunity tomorrow (Rom. 10:9-10).

The youth need to read children’s books. So, why not give them a children’s Christian book that’s written for a child but contains a lesson for all? ORDER TODAY: Episode 3.
